I have finished Friendship Bread by Darien Gee.
The last chapter had me confused a bit, and not sure how the characters are tied into the story. I will have to look back to see the connection. As I worked my way through the book, some chapters had numbers and some had character name, age and their career. Not sure why the author did this?
Just as I thought at the beginning of the book, this one will need to be read again! The book provides a great story, even though some of the character experience tragedy. The town comes together to help others by baking friendship bread for a nearby town that was flooded. Earlier in the book, there was negativity toward the bread and starters that character gave away to others.
Each character has a positive story ending by the end of the book.
The author has a great interactive website including recipes and opportunities for fans to share. This would be a great book for a book club.
This author has another book coming out that is set in the same town. We will have to see if she chooses to carry on some of the same characters as well as the "cooking aspect" of this new book.
When I reviewed her website, I also found out that she is published under another name: Mia King.
I wonder why authors do this?
Anyway, my plan is to pick out another book tomorrow.
