Week of October 3 - 7th
So I have begun reading Joanne Fluke's Apple Turnover Murder. During the first ten chapters I have been introduced to the main characters of the book as well as The Cookie Jar and Lake Eden.
Fluke does quite a bit of background "flashback" info for each of the characters. If you have not read all of the books in the series she is able to get you caught up quickly.
The Cookie Jar is a bakery owned by the main character: Hannah with her business partner Lisa.
It has become apparent that the main character, Hannah, has a habit of finding murdered people. During chapter 11, Hannah finds a dead body (of her past professor/boyfriend). Hannah finds Bradford in a chair with a half eaten apple turnover (that she made) on the floor by his side. So the journey begins, who killed Bradford?
During my reading this week (Chapters 1-12) there were 8 recipes mentioned and recipe listed in the book. My plan is to do sort of a recipe round up over the weekend and make at least one of the recipes for the week. Of course, I am thinking about those apple turnovers, but we will see what the family thinks.
Based on the requirements of the reading assignment and how quickly I am reading this book - I may have to continue to the next book in the series.
